How long do EV batteries actually last?
Rated in decades, not years
The fear that an EV battery 'wears out fast' is the opposite of how they are engineered. BYD's Blade Battery is rated for about 3,000 charge cycles, at Cebu commuting distances, that is over a million kilometers.
The guarantee, in writing
Battery packs carry an 8-year / 160,000-km warranty with at least 70% capacity guaranteed, fall short and it gets repaired or replaced. The vehicle itself is covered up to 6 years or 150,000 km, with up to 8 years on the drive unit.
Cheaper to keep
No oil changes, no timing belt, no clutch. Scheduled maintenance on an EV is a shorter checklist than a gas car's, which is why the running-cost math keeps coming out in the EV's favor.
